Position Title: Senior Research Officer– Youth Engagement

Location: Thimphu, Bhutan

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced researcher with a strong background in youth engagement. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in conducting research, developing strategies, and producing impactful reports that contribute to enhancing youth participation and influence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting Research on Economically Inactive Youth:
• Research Design & Methodology: Develop comprehensive research plans that include both qualitative and quantitative approaches to assess the factors leading to youth economic inactivity in Bhutan.
• Survey Development: Design and pilot surveys, questionnaires, and interviews to collect data from youth populations across different regions, ensuring inclusivity and representing diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Development of Data Bank for OYE Plan and Program:
• Database Creation: Establish and maintain a comprehensive data bank that includes detailed information on economically inactive youth. This will include factors such as education, skills, employment barriers, geographic distribution, and more.
• Data Integration: Ensure the collected data is systematically stored, integrated, and accessible for stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers involved in youth employment and development.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including youth organizations, policymakers, and academic institutions.
• Provide technical input to program development and evaluations.

Qualifications and Experience:

•   Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Public Policy, Sociology, Data Science or a related field. However, preference will be given to candidates with master’s degree.

   •   5–10 years of research experience, with a focus on youth engagement.

   •   Proven track record of publishing research findings in high-quality reports or journals.

   •   Strong knowledge of participatory research methods and youth-centered approaches.

   •   Excellent data analysis skills using tools such as SPSS, NVivo, R, or similar software.

   •   Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

   •   Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in designing and facilitating workshops or training sessions for youth.
• Familiarity with global and regional youth policies and frameworks.
• Knowledge of fundraising and grant writing for research initiatives.
• Driving license holder preferably.

Basic Salary: (Nu. 28,325-570-36,865)

HR allowance: 20% of basic salary

Communication allowance: Nu.1500

Fuel Allowance: Nu. 2000
