Meeting with Youth of Rangtse Village | Organization for Youth Empowerment

A meeting with the youth of Rangtse village under Gakiling Gewog was organized by OYE on 19 Nov. The meeting was chaired by the Offtg Dungpa of Sombaykha Dungkhar and was also attended by Rangtse Lam , Culture Officer of Haa Dzongkhag, Mangmi of Gakiling Gewog and Rangtse Tshogpa. 27 youth mostly women were in attendance. The youth were explained on the upcoming conservation project and their roles and engagement which also provides employment opportunities to enhance their livelihood despite taking active role in the conservation of Rangtse Nye and its surrounding.
The youth participants were excited to be involved for the project implementation and also continue their effort as part of sustainability aftermath. The Culture Officer shared his views and the full support from the youth in the conservation of the Nye and assured to provide his support and cooperation to the proposed project. The Rangtse Lam also advised the youth to take up the project as it would not only promote Nye’s conservation but also have a positive bearing in enhancing their livelihood. The Offtg Dungpa further encouraged the youth to play a crucial role and come forward in the successful implementation of the project and take advantage of being the closest village to Rangtse Nye. The proposal to improve other Nyes located in the Gewog was also highlighted. The Executive Director, OYE thanked the participants and the officials for their unstinted support and cooperation for rendering since the consultation of the project and aspired to receive their unwavering and unconditional support during the project phase and also support the youth group even beyond to ensure the sustainability. A visit to Nye was also made to access the opportunities and threats to it and include conservation related activities in the project component. All prayed that the projected would be selected and implemented without and hitches and bring greater benefits to the youth and also improve the existing facilities associated to Rangtse Nye and its surrounding.
