Calls for 2019 UNESCO-JAPAN Prize on Education for Sustainable Development is now open | Organization for Youth Empowerment

The 2019 call for nominations is now open for UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development.

Funded by the Government of Japan, the UNESCO-Japan Prize consists of three annual awards of USD 50,000 for each recipient.
The Prize Statutes (Annex II of the letter) can be accessed here.

  1. The Prize and award winners recognize the role of education in connecting the social, economic, cultural and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. It was established by the Executive Board of UNESCO at its 195th session within the framework of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD and officially announced at the UNESCO World Conference on ESD (10-12 November 2014, Aichi-Nagoya, Japan). The GAP calls for scaling up of ESD action at all levels as a means of implementing all 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

  2. The nomination process takes place via an online platform:http://unesco.org/esd (user guide available here).
  3. To request the creation of an account for the platform, please register here:http://www.unesco.org/esdprize/register (If you submitted an online nomination for previous editions of the Prize, your user name and password remain valid.)
  4. All nominations should be submitted to UNESCO via the online form in English or French by 30 April 2019 at the very latest (midnight, Paris time).
