Financial Literacy Workshop conducted at Bhutan Football Federation Academy for the students by OYE on 24 September 2022 at Changjiji, Thimphu | Organization for Youth Empowerment

The first session of the advocacy program sponsored by BFF was conducted on 24 September, 2022. The session was attended by 28 students from classes 9 and 10 of the BFF Academy.

The session dedicated on financial literacy was facilitated by Mr. Sonam Phuntsho Lhagyel of Royal Security Exchange  of Bhutan. During one and half hour session, presentation was focused on the principles of basic money management, savings schemes, and insurance policies. The facilitator emphasized on the importance of the financial plans as part of life skills needed for financial security by understanding the thumb rules such as, budgeting, investing, insurance, loans, and interests on investment.

Further, the BFF Principal Mr. Chencho Namgyel and the teachers also attended the session. As a course evaluation, the feedback from the students and teachers were very positive. As the outcome of this session, those students who did not have saving accounts in the Banks have committed to open new saving accounts. The school authority assured to facilitate in opening the saving accounts.

The program concluded with a brief advice to the students on the significance of financial literacy and thanked the resource person and school authority for making the day’s event a productive and successful one by the Executive Director of OYE
