Through the valleys of the west to the hills of the east, BJTF successfully conducted its advocacy and awareness program as part of the project ‘Enhancing Youth Employability Through Awareness and Meaningful Engagement,’ funded by EU through support from Helvetas. A total of 5 schools and 2 TTIs from Trongsa, Bumthang, Mongar & Tashigang have been covered, reaching out to a total of 2300 youths. BJTF successful signed an MoU with TTI Chumey and TTI Rangjung for partnership in facilitation of interested students in starting skilled business.
As the nation embraces rapid economic growth and industrialization it is of paramount importance for the participation of its citizens. Encouraging and Equipping the Bhutanese youth with the necessary skill required in the labor market will help reduce the nations skilled workforce shortage and increase productivity which will overall enhance economic development. With this in mind, the advocacy was conducted to positively transform the mindset of the youths towards skilled jobs and also to highlight the importance & opportunities of skilled job in the current labor market.
To complement the program and inspire the students, BJTF team was accompanied by inspirational entrepreneurs from respective Dzongkhags as guest speakers.
Mr. Karma Jurmey (Bumthang) aka Ura Pagla one of Bhutan first entrepreneurs, a resilient and motivational speaker who has faced all adverse of life. He is now the owner of ‘Arya Zamhla Organic Packer’ which focuses on packaging of dry vegetables and medicinal herbal tea for efficient marketing of the product.

Mr. Sonam Phuntsho (Mongar) is a civil servant cum entrepreneur. He is the founder of ‘Chezang Shamu Shochong Khang’ a high-quality mushroom production business that supplies fresh and high quality Oyester and Shiitake mushroom to local and international market. This venture was first of its kind in eastern Bhutan.

Mr.Sonam Gyaltshen (Tashigang) is an young entrepreneur who left studying civil engineering to pursue his dream i.e electronic and computer engineering. He now owns the only electronic service and repair shop ‘Gyelsens Electronica’ in Kanglung.
