Two Day Retreat of the BOT Members | Organization for Youth Empowerment

A two-day retreat was conducted at Olathangka Hotel Paro from 15-16 November 2024. During the retreat, the BOT members and OYE management brainstormed the OYE to focus on delivering its services and proposing plans and programs. The BOT also discussed the possibilities of aligning its action plans for the next five years to the 14 FYP of the Royal Government of Bhutan. The retreat provided platforms to review the activities carried out by the organization and the issues and problems faced in achieving its desired mandates. In line with the outcome of the recommendations made after the group works, the Board decided that OYE should now focus its activities on the following three competencies:

The triangle concept highlights the interdependent relationship between three critical areas—Research Development and Analysis, Business Development Plans, and Skills Development Initiatives—that are essential for fostering meaningful youth economic engagement. Together, these elements create a dynamic framework that supports informed decision-making, equips youth with the necessary skills, and drives sustainable business growth, ensuring economically active youth are well-prepared to thrive in the economy.

Therefore, the Organization   focuses its strategic plans and programs on the following three competencies:

1. Research development and analysis: Conduct periodical Research on youth who are economically inactive and analyze data to identify key drivers, trends, and gaps in youth employment.

1. Business development plans: The business development plans shall be developed to support youth based on the research gaps and required interventions.

• Skills development initiatives: Organize skills development initiatives tailored to youth needs and support their meaningful economic engagement.

Objectives:

1. Conduct in-depth research on youth unemployment.
2. Analyze data to identify key drivers, trends, and gaps in youth employment.
3. Develop insights and recommendations to inform skills development and livelihood enhancement programs.

Outcome:

   •   Comprehensive research reports on youth unemployment and skills gaps.

   •   Analytical insights highlighting opportunities for interventions.

   •   Proposals for skills development initiatives tailored to youth needs.

   •   Enhanced collaboration with stakeholders through data-driven advocacy.

Conclusion:

The organization is committed to addressing youth unemployment challenges in the country. Its strength in ensuring data-driven solutions that promote skills development, employment opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods for young people is to guarantee self-employment and prepare for the world of work at this competitive technologically advanced age so that no one is left behind.
